For only the fifth time in the resort’s history, Walt Disney World Resort theme parks have closed due to the impending arrival of Hurricane Irma. The historic two-day closings began on Saturday night at 7:00 for Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom and 9:00 for Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Closings were not limited to theme parks however, ESPN Wide World of Sports, Disney Springs, and both WDW waterparks have also closed. All Walt Disney World properties are expected to resume normal operating hours on Tuesday, September 12.
WDW transportation has been affected as a result of these closings. Bus transportation from Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom ended at 8 PM on Saturday night, while bus and monorail transportation from Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Disney Springs ended at 10 PM on Saturday night. All forms of WDW transportation are also expected to resume normal operations on Tuesday, September 12.
